Twisted T90 CSW V8 6.2 Auto - Certified Build

This custom T90 in classic Keswick Green comes equipped with an incredible 6.2-litre, LS3 Petrol V8 engine paired with a silky smooth 6-speed automatic transmission. It also boasts a full saddle and black leather trimmed interior and 18” classic wheels finished in black with BF Goodrich tyres.

Inside, Twisted has provided soundproofing and a new carpet to provide a level of refinement usually unheard of in a Defender. On top of this, Twisted trimmed Recaro heated seats offer a luxurious level of comfort.

The Twisted Touch

Andy Dunkley, Workshop Manager & Technician (and proud Yorkshireman), led the team when converting this Defender 90. Here’s how he and the team crafted this truly unique vehicle.

The bodywork and chassis

“As you would expect from any Twisted vehicle customisation, we have started from the ground up. The chassis has been specially coated to increase its lifespan and the handling has been dramatically improved with our full progressive set up.

The team also gave the exterior of this Defender 90 some special attention by introducing LED lighting alongside our daytime running light front bumper. Our stage one front end conversion - with matching grille and vent set - was inspired by the Defender’s rich history. It gives the vehicle a really clean look that will be admired everywhere it goes.

The rear also looks purposeful with its full width step bumper, swing away wheel carrier, painted black cross member and of course the all-important Twisted Yorkshire plaque.

As for the paintwork, Keswick Green was originally marketed as the colour of choice for farmers and country folk so that they could blend into the countryside. It was later adopted as the Defender purists choice. Nowadays, this iconic colour acts as a subtle nod to Land Rover’s glorious history.”

The engine  

“Naturally one of the biggest additions to this custom build Defender is the 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual selection when needed.

Extensive work was carried out on the engine to provide around 430 horsepower and deliver infinite smiles per gallon. This makes this modified Defender 90 sophisticated enough to drive around the town in an understated manner, while also providing power and torque when required. Nothing quite beats that V8 burble through the tailored stainless exhaust.”

The interior

“At the front of this Defender 90 build, we provided both comfort and space by fitting a classic wooden Twisted steering wheel, cruise control and more.

In the back - above the soundproofing and carpet - we added two forward facing lock and fold seats and seat belts. These have been lovingly trimmed in matching saddle and black leather.

The team also gave the sliding window trims black Alston techno suede to match the black Alston headlining. This provides a real premium feel by ridding the interior of some of the exposed plastics of the standard version.”
