• Whilst keeping the essence of Land Rover® history, Twisted specializes in the re-engineering of standard Defender® to make it the very best vehicle it can be. Our technicians spend over 2000 hours rebuilding the vehicle from scratch, including the fitment of more powerful engines, modern infotainment and bespoke interiors.

  • No, we’re an entirely separate company. Twisted North America restores and rebuilds existing Land Rover® Defender®. Twisted North America is not sponsored, associated, approved, endorsed, nor affiliated with JLR® in any way (see our T&Cs for full details).

  • We have a 100,000 sq ft build facility in Newark, New Jersey, and a showroom in Austin, Texas (where even across the pond you can have a true Yorkshire cup of tea!). We plan to open additional showrooms in California, Miami and Toronto. Until then, you may spot us out and about with a demo vehicle on our touring truck.

  • Twisted was born over 22 years ago and is the longest established modifier of Land Rover Defenders. Twisted has built an international reputation for our quality engineering and innovative approach to meeting the needs of customers. It’s not just cosmetic enhancements we provide; a large part of what we do is under the hood and is what’s experienced in the drive and lifespan of the Twisted Defender.   • Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery – or so we’re told. There are a handful of imposters out there, but thankfully only a true Twisted vehicle will have the ‘Twisted Build Plaque’ proudly on display on the dashboard and on the rear of the vehicle. If a vehicle looks like one of ours, but doesn’t have the Twisted Build Plaque, it is likely an imitation. Only full-spec vehicles receive the internal and external Twisted Build plaques, and are considered genuine.

  • There are a few options:

    1. Twisted NA-V8. The Twisted North America V8 (NA-V8) is the ultimate custom Defender that’s been developed for the North American market, where the authenticity of the Classic Defender meets the exceptionality of Twisted.
    2. Twisted NAS-E. The NAS-E is our reimagining of the original North American Specification Defender©. The ‘California’ series is first in round and is formed on the iconic short wheelbase soft-top 90.
    3. Twisted EV (full build). Offering inspiration and the same level of customization from our NA-V8 but with an all electric twist.
  • Changing standard manufacturers' parts does invalidate Land Rover® warranty. However, we have you covered. All Twisted builds come with a 2 year warranty, serviced directly by us, with options to extend warranty after the initial coverage.

  • We are in a fortunate position to be the only stockist of delivery mileage Defender in the world. Our careful build process means we are slowly working our way through this stock, which is likely to last for a number of years yet. Once the stock has been built, we've got a few ideas…

  • Yes. But some more than others. The possibilities with a Twisted are truly endless! Experience has also shown that some sympathetic future proofing and reliability enhancements really do make the ownership and driving experience more pleasant and fulfilling. Very few clients do not take advantage of the full, bespoke Twisted experience.

  • Yes. There are certain countries with import restrictions, but we will always assist in any way possible.

  • Yes, no problem at all. All vehicles for North America come Left Hand Drive as standard. Get in touch about any requirements you have for your perfect Defender and we’ll be able to provide more information on exactly what we can create for you so that your exact needs are met.

  • At present, we aren’t looking to buy any Defenders from anyone. However, we do offer a part exchange scheme. Please get in touch to discuss a trade-in of your existing Defender.

  • Our sole focus at this moment in time is to continue to develop and refine the Classic Defender.

  • Yes - please call us to discuss facilitating a part exchange of a non-defender vehicle.
