The London showroom: stick or twist?
We’ve had a Twisted showroom in Kensington for over a year, so we wrote the three lessons we learned from having a space in the capital. Are we staying? Read on to find out.
Lesson 1: It’s not a showroom. It’s a home from home.
Radley Mews - which may already be familiar to classic car fans, having housed well-established collectable car expert Graham Hunt – is boutique in terms of where and what it is.
The beautiful mews and quiet cobbled streets make it feel like a Yorkshire village in London. We’ll offer you Harrogate spring water or a warm Yorkshire tea. That said, nothing is warmer than the Yorkshire welcome you’ll receive.
As it’s a creative space, we have just two or three vehicles on show. There’s a comfortable lounge, leathers on the wall that you can touch, and paint samples that you can take outside to see how they look in the sun.
It’s the opposite of a clinical showroom among a row of car dealerships. It’s Twisted. We’re a family. It’s only right we make you feel at home.
Lesson 2: It only takes an hour to make a connection.
Even if you have an hour to snatch next time you’re in the city, come in and see us.
Pop in. Drop by. Say hello.
Our aim isn’t to seal a deal as soon as possible. Before we talk about your desire for a car, we want to get to know you. Introduce Twisted and guide you through the commissioning process to create an entirely tailored vehicle – the best, made better, made yours.
Kensington is the perfect location for many of our customers, whether you live in the capital, the Home Counties or further afield. Twisted may be made in Yorkshire, but our customers are based worldwide. Many frequently travel through London, so having a base there means we are now within easy reach.
It only takes an hour to make a lasting connection – something we’ve learnt many times throughout the year.
Lesson 3: London has been great for business.
When many businesses scaled back growth plans and left city centres, we stuck our heads above the parapet. We made a significant investment into our London showroom.
It was a risk.
A risk that paid off.
It’s been the catalyst for increased sales and interest in the brand because we’ve been able to show our incredible vehicles to a wider audience.
But something unexpected happened. Having a base in London injected new energy into the business. We got more creative. More energised. More inspired by the wider world.
Yorkshire is home; it always will be. But home is a feeling, not a place. And Radley Mews feels like Twisted.
We’re looking forward to another year of making connections worldwide and growing the Twisted family.
London: stick or twist? We’ll stick… Twisted style.
