This year has seen not only the expansion of the Twisted brand at our new locations in North America and the UAE but also at home at our Thirsk HQ.
Our Yorkshire team has grown to include the addition of 5 talented technicians to the Twisted workshop, each with their own designated vehicle ramp and area of knowledge. The search for reinforcements went countrywide, and we were lucky enough to attract 21 year old Eliott Holmes to the role. After spending 6 years at Bentley Motors in Crewe, Eliott had decided now was the time to come home to North Yorkshire and begin his journey with us.
Within a month of Eliott being offered the job, he’d made the hard decision to hand in his resignation at Bentley Motors, move out of his apartment in Cheshire and move back home to Yorkshire to start his new role.
‘It’s a decision I don’t regret, as each day at Twisted I’ve either had a new challenge or I’ve learnt something new about the product or the business. I really enjoy being part of such a small, yet powerful team and can’t wait to see what the future holds’.
When asked what attracted him to Twisted in the first place, Eliott admires the attention to detail, the craftsmanship and hours that are spent creating such unique builds and how his new role as a vehicle technician allows him to build the vehicle from start to finish.
‘It’s impressive how the business is ever expanding and exploring new ventures, there are exciting times ahead and it’s a journey I am proud to be a part of.’
Eliott brings with him, not only a huge knowledge of luxury vehicles but a high standard of quality work and attention to detail which will be well used here at Twisted. ‘Bentley has enabled me to understand the importance of the customers’ needs and what they expect from their vehicle. At Twisted this is imperative as my name is on the unique Twisted build plaque!’.
Coming from a huge production facility like the Bentley worksop which employed over 4500 people, with 1000 in production alone, to the Twisted workshop with 9 technicians is a huge change. Here at Twisted, the technicians do every single part of the build and are required to have full knowledge of the vehicles and the skills it takes to build the product. Eliott says ‘this makes a day at work much more varied and there is always something new to learn or master’.
When asked if there was anything that surprised him about Twisted that he didn’t expect, Eliott mentions the involvement of staff in the business. ‘I like how involved everyone is at Twisted as a business and how ideas and updates are shared or discussed with everyone. As a tech I also like how when I have an idea that I think would improve the build I’m working on, this is put forward to the customer, to get their feedback on my suggestion. It’s great being able to put my own touch on a build.’
Eliott has his sights firmly set on the future here at Twisted and hopes that a year from now he will have built a number of unique builds that his customers want to keep for life… ‘The kind of vehicles that I don’t particularly want to hand over to them and keep for myself!’.
He also wants to be involved in the development and expansion of the Twisted brand as a whole and in the workshop, implementing certain elements he’s learned and brought with him from Bentley.
For any young technicians starting out, Eliott recommends having a willingness to learn everything as you never know when that experience will be beneficial to you. ‘Don’t say no to a job unless you are being asked to get a long stand or a new bubble for the spirit level!’ Sounds like sage advice to us!
