Twisted ambassador and extreme adventurer, Sean Conway, has smashed a world record this week, becoming the fastest person to cross Europe on a bicycle.
Sean’s incredible efforts saw him finish in a time of 24 days, 18 hours and 38 minutes, beating the time of previous record holder, Jonas Deichmann of Germany, who completed the feat in 25 days, 3 hours and 38 minutes.
Prior to becoming part of the Twisted family in April 2017, Sean had attempted to break the record three times previously before finally smashing the world title over the last month. His last attempt in August 2017 had to be abandoned due to a muscle injury.
Sean said: “It’s taken me six years, 60,000 miles and three failed attempts at a cycling world record but it finally happened!”
He began this year’s challenge in Portugal’s Cabo de Roca on 16 April and completed the record-breaking adventure on 11 May in Ufa, Russia, following the exact same route Deichmann took last year.
Sean is no stranger to adventure, undergoing numerous endeavours including running from John O’Groats to Land’s End and travelling around mainland Britain by running, swimming and cycling in an ‘ultra-triathlon’.
Twisted founder Charles Fawcett congratulated Sean on his achievements: “Everyone at Twisted is immensely proud of Sean’s record, what an achievement!
“We’re especially honoured to have him as a Twisted ambassador, his incredible drive is exactly what we hope to inspire at Twisted.”
Last summer, Sean embarked on an adventure with the Twisted team, leaving the borders of Yorkshire and heading north to Glasgow in ‘Colonel Mustard’, his Bahama Gold Twisted 110; a collaborative effort between himself and our head engineer Rob Lewis.
