Recently, we have been working in collaboration with Yorkshire-based musician and artist, Ian Scott Massie, to support a school in India.
The Karkeri School in Rajasthan, India, located in the North West of the country on the edge of the Thar Desert, provides education for 300 children living below the poverty line, aged between 4 and 14.
We have provided funding to the project to help the school improve its facilities.
In 2014, the school had no water supply, no toilets and no adequate classrooms, but with the help of Ian and other volunteers, five classrooms have since been built for the school, along with a pump for water and two toilets.
Run by village elders, the school is passionate about providing a high-quality education, and runs activities that aim to preserve Rajasthani traditions like cultural dancing, storytelling, art and music.
Ian Scott Massie, from Masham, Yorkshire, is an artist and a musician, and teaches guitar and coaches rock bands at Queen Mary’s School in Thirsk. Ian has visited the school on a number of occasions and has helped to spearhead fundraising efforts.
He said: “It’s great that Twisted has come on board to help support Karkeri School in India. I am extremely passionate about helping the school out and am certain the sponsorship from Twisted will help the school immensely.”
